A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that police tried to stop Michael Davis of East Freedom for a license plate on his bike that came back listed as “dead”. When Davis refused to stop, he sped away from the officer, who proceeded to chase Davis into Cambria County. There, Davis traveled onto a dirt road, where the officer continued to give chase. He was taken into custody on Sunday after police found a backpack, helmet and jacket belonging to Davis in the woods where he tried to escape. Davis is charged with fleeing or eluding police, reckless endangerment and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
