News reports suggest that Penndot has announced it will grant the city $1.29 million to help renovate the transportation center located on 11th avenue. The money will go towards public safety, along with renovating utilities, new wayfunding, signage and to provide reliable passenger access. Mayor Matt Pacifico said he was thrilled to learn that the city will get the funding. Altoona is also seeking funds from the U.S. Dept of Transportation to help with more infrastructure issues. The city will have to come up with a 30% match to the grant, which totals some $556,000 in order to get the money. Total price tag for the proposed project is $2.2. Million.
