The Altoona Mirror reports the two sides have come to an agreement about water rates, after it was announced that Bellwood borough will become a bulk customer of the water authority. That agreement brings with it a new rate structure for customers in Bellwood borough, which will provide a discount for the first 3 years of the agreement. Average bills for the first three years come to $55 per month, but could rise to $68/month in 2025. Residential bills would have more than doubled under an old proposal that would have forced Bellwood to pay 33% of capital costs associated with improvements made to the treatment plant. The new agreement is set to last for 15 years.
