It’s that time of year. Following are 2 of the VFW Auxiliary Scholarships available by Oct 31.2024.
RE: “MY VOICE IN AMERICA’S DEMOCRACY?” GRADES 6-8

Patriot’s Pen scholarship is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students of public, private, or parochial schools and homeschools. This year’s theme is: “My Voice in America’s Democracy?” Judging is based on knowledge of theme by showing extensive research on the topic; development of who, what, when, where, and why by relating to your experiences; and clarity of your ideas by leaving the reader clear understanding of your theme explanations.Past entries can be heard on line. First place national award is $5,000. The deadline for written submissions to the Auxiliary is Oct 31.

Forms may be obtained at the Ford City and Kittanning libraries. Ford City VFW Post 4843 is accepting submissions until Oct 31. The address is 2125 Bailey Ave, Ford City, PA 16226

RE: Voice of Democracy grades 9-12
“IS AMERICA TODAY OUR FOREFATHERS’ VISION?”

Ford City VFW Auxiliary announces it’s Voice of Democracy scholarship.

The Voice of Democracy is a 3-5 minute audio essay submitted by a 9th to 12th grade student-public, private, parochial, homeschooled, or civilian overseas student. This year’s theme “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?” Grand prize is $35,000. Past winners can be heard online at vfwaux.org. Entry forms may be obtained from the Ford City and Kittanning Libraries.
Judging is on Originality and human interest, content of a fully developed theme and expressed organization, and delivery in a clear and credible manner. The deadline for entry is Oct 31 at the Ford City VFW Post 4843, 2125 Bailey Ave, Ford City, PA 16226.
